Founder and CEO
Alexandre Dreyfus (born in Lyon, 1977) is a seasoned digital entrepreneur with almost 30 years of experience in developing business projects within the gaming, sports, and entertainment industries. Considered a visionary in applying tech to fan engagement, he has been invited to share his views at the world’s most influential conferences, including Web Summit, Token2049, Consensus and the Qatar Economic Forum.
Widely regarded as a pioneer in the web space, he initiated his entrepreneurial journey in the mid-90s during the nascent stages of the digital economy. Establishing his first company at the age of 16, Dreyfus achieved early success with Mediartis, a web agency that he sold to Publicis Group in 1998. By then, he had already launched Webcity, a digital tourist guide that expanded to 80 employees before its acquisition by Yelp.
As the new century unfolded, Alexandre delved into the realms of poker and online gaming, co-founding Winamax, the inaugural online poker and betting website in France, and creating Chiligaming, later acquired by New York listed company Bally Technologies (now Scientific Games).
In the mid-2010s, he developed an interest in blockchain and its potential to disrupt sports by bringing fans closer to the teams they love whilst opening new ways for the clubs to engage with and monetize their global fan bases.
Pursuing this vision, in 2018, Alexandre founded Chiliz, securing over $66 million in funding from prominent cryptocurrency exchanges and leading crypto funds. In 2019, Chiliz introduced Fan Tokens, a new digital asset class enabling sports fans to actively participate in decisions concerning their favorite teams and earn rewards through the user-friendly and gamified EngageToEarn app, Socios.com.
By the end of 2022, over a hundred sporting organizations worldwide had embraced Dreyfus' vision, utilizing Chiliz technology and the Socios.com platform to engage and reward their fan bases. Chiliz’s partner roster included franchises from the NBA and the NFL, leading clubs from the Premier League, LaLiga and Lega Serie A as well as UFC and PFL (mixed martial arts), the Davis Cup (tennis) and several Formula 1 teams.
With Socios.com solidified as the world's premier non-financial consumer-facing blockchain product, and Fan Tokens surpassing NFTs in trading volume, in 2023 Chiliz launched the Chiliz Chain—the first blockchain specifically designed for the sports industry, marking a huge step forward in the company’s mission to lead the transition of the sports industry from web2 to web3. Chiliz introduced the new Chain as the Home of SportFi, the space emerged from the intersection of sports and decentralization.
Today, the Chiliz ecosystem comprises over 100 brands from the sports and blockchain sectors that are working together to build and develop products and services bound to shape the future of sports and entertainment, with SportFi standing out as one of the most rapidly growing and exciting verticals in tech.
Currently, Chiliz has over 300 employees and offices throughout the world. Its native token, $CHZ, has an estimated market cap of $1.2b.
